Due to elevated fire danger, the City of Phoenix has implemented Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. All consumer fireworks are prohibited within one mile of mountain preserves, desert parks, regional parks, conservation areas, national forests, and wilderness areas.
City of Phoenix Heat Relief Services Earn Federal Attention
Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego visited the City’s 24/7 heat‑respite center at 20 W. Jackson St., touring the facility, speaking with staff, and hearing about the services available for people in need. His visit highlighted the critical role the City’s heat response plays in protecting vulnerable residents during extreme temperatures.
The 20 W. Jackson location operates 24/7, offering cooling space, water, navigation services, and connections to shelter and other essential resources for anyone who needs relief from the heat.
In addition, the City of Phoenix operates two additional extended-hours cooling centers, free and open to the public:
- Justa Center: 1001 W. Jackson Street, open daily 3-9 p.m.
- Cholla Library: 10050 Metro Parkway E., open Mon-Sat until 9 p.m., Sun & Holidays noon-9:00 p.m.
The City of Phoenix operates more than 60 sites in the regional heat relief network, including cooling centers and hydration stations. Sites will be open through September 30.
Anyone needing transportation to a cooling center or heat‑relief location can call 2‑1‑1 daily from 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
