The Homicide Cold Case Squad is consistently reviewing cold cases to see if any new leads or advances in technology could help us solve these cases. Here are a few examples of cases that we have identified and arrested an offender in the last few years.​​

Jeffrey Lockwood Arrested

Arrest for homicide of Eric Harmon​

Date / Time of Occurrence: October 21, 1994 at 1100 hours

Location of Occurrence: In the area of 600 N. Galvin Parkway (Papago Park)

Victim: Eric Harmon

Suspect: Jeffrey Lockwood

On October 21, 1994, the Victim Eric Harmon was found deceased from blunt force trauma in Papago Park. The case went cold in 1995 with no suspects identified.

In 2007 Phoenix Police Detectives requested additional Laboratory analysis which lead him to Jeffrey Lockwood. In 2009 Suspect Lockwood was located and interviewed.

In December 2009,​ Suspect Jeffrey Lockwood was charged with Victim Eric Harmon's Death.

Roger Cook Arrested

Arrest for homicide of Terrance Keenan

Date / Time of Occurrence: October 20, 1987 at 2059 hours

Location of Occurrence: In the area of 800 N. 3rd Avenue

Victim: Terrance Keenan

Suspect: Roger Cook

On October 20, 1987, Terrance Keenan went to an apartment complex in the area of 800 N. 3rd Avenue with two friends to visit another friend. Roger Cook who was a resident at the apartment complex confronted Terrance Keenan and a verbal exchange ensued resulting in Roger Cook shooting Terrance Keenan.

Roger Cook was arrested at the time however he did not show up for court.

On August 3, 2009, The Phoenix Police Department and the U.S. Marshal's Service began looking for Roger Cook. He was located and arrested in Long Beach, California.

Saul Ojeda Arrested

Arrest for homicide of Basilio Guerrero-Monroy

Date of Occurrence: July 11, 2008

Location of Occurrence: In the area of I17 and Pioneer Road

Victim: Basilio Guerrero-Monroy

Suspect: Saul Ojeda

On July 11, 2008, Basilio Guerrero-Monroy left in his vehicle to visit friends and never returned. Family members received ransom calls and when the complete ransom amount was not obtained Basilio was taken to the area of I17 and Pioneer Road and shot.

Forensic evidence linked this case to another similar case in Maricopa County. With extensive follow up by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the Phoenix Police Department, in December of 2009 Suspect Saul Ojeda was arrested for the murder of Basilio Guerrero-Monroy.

Daryl E. Smith Arrested

Arrest for homicide of Michael Napier

Date / Time of Occurrence: February 13, 1987 at 1054 hours

Location of Occurrence: In the area of 4400 N. 29th Drive

Victim: Michael Napier

Suspect: Daryl E. Smith

On February 13, 1987, Michael Napier was involved in an argument with Daryl Smith. During the argument, a physical struggle ensued, and Daryl Smith shot Michael Napier one time killing him.

An arrest warrant was issued in 1987 but the case went cold when he was not able to be located.

On June 1, 2009, Daryl Smith was located and arrested in Columbus, Mississippi after Detectives from the Phoenix Police Department and the U.S. Marshal's Service located him with the use of current technology.

Kenneth Jackson, Jr. Arrested

Arrest for homicide of Marlin Darton

Date / Time of Occurrence: November 23, 1988 at 0832 hours

Location of Occurrence: In the area of 1600 E. Monroe Street

Victim: Marlin Darton

Suspect: Kenneth Jackson Jr.

On November 23, 1988, Marlin Darton was found beaten to death in his apartment. No Suspect was identified at the time and the case went cold.

On December 15, 2009, Kenneth Jackson walked into Phoenix Police Headquarters and confessed to killing Marlin Darton. He gave facts that only the suspect would know.​

On December 15, 2009, Kenneth Jackson was arrested for the death of Marlin Darton.
