Administration
Directs all Human Services Department activities and programs, establishes and maintains working relationships with funding and other agencies, public and private. The Human Services Director is also the Executive Secretary to the Human Services Commission.
Business and Workforce Development
Provides oversight for Arizona@Work programs, including career services, and meeting the needs of Phoenix residents and industries through diverse training and educational opportunities, support services, and quality career paths designed to improve individual and family economic well-being.
Community Services and Initiatives
Operates human service programs to meet the emergency, financial, short, and long-term case management needs of residents with low income, including vulnerable populations. Provides education to tenants and landlords on the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act and refers households experiencing an eviction crisis for legal assistance.
Education
Responsible for administering the Phoenix Head Start Birth to Five Program that serves approximately 3,500 children, ages 0-5, through a directly operated program and contracted delegate agencies.
Management Services
Coordinates the information technology, budget oversight, procurement and contracting, facilities operations, and other support services for HSD divisions and programs.
Senior Programs
Operates 15 senior centers, providing services, congregate meals, recreation, education, and programming to adults in a safe and supportive environment.
Strategic Initiatives
Provides support to the following City sponsored awareness campaigns and initiatives: Paint Phoenix Purple (domestic violence/teen dating violence), Human Trafficking (human and sex trafficking), Fast Track Cities (HIV/AIDS), and Let’s Talk Teal (sexual assault).
Victim Services
Manages the Family Advocacy Center that serves individuals and families victimized by domestic and sexual violence, homicide, sex trafficking, and other violent crimes.
