Standard plan reviews are completed when a developer or builder wants to use the same basic design at many locations, usually in a specified subdivision. One comprehensive review of the construction elements of the plans is needed. The plan then becomes a "standard" and can be used to obtain permits for numerous sites. When a new code or ordinance is adopted that affects the contents of the plans, revisions or updates to the standard plan are necessary. For detailed information about requirements for the approval of standard plans see the Residential Standard Guidelines.
