Residential Recycling
The City of Phoenix offers a weekly recycling collection, that occurs on the same day as landfill container collection, but using different trucks to avoid contamination. Collected recyclables are brought to the city-owned Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) where they are sorted and processed for repurposing. The Zero Waste team handles all recycling education.
Recycling Guidelines: Remember, all materials must be emptied of liquids and free of food scraps and grease before tossing them in the container. Plastic bags are not accepted in the recycle container. Materials must also be placed in the container loosely, and not bagged.
- To ensure timely collection, containers must be placed curbside before 5:30 a.m. on the day of pick up.
- Trash and recycling containers must be 4 feet apart.
- City code requires residents to have lids on solid waste containers (garbage or recycling) secured to prevent rain, insects, and blowing of garbage or recyclable materials throughout your neighborhood.
New Solid Waste Rate Approved
A new solid waste rate has been approved. The first $5/month increase will be reflected on your July city services bill.

Repair Old Electronics With Westech
Properly disposing of electronic waste prevents hazardous materials from entering the landfill. Donate your old electronics and hardware to Westech Recyclers for repair. Westech is a City of Phoenix Zero Waste Business that has a local retail store, Resell Electronics, where you can purchase repaired electronics including cell phones, desktop computers, laptops, and a vast selection of computer components and accessories.
