The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is seeking motivated and success-oriented Water Production Operations & Maintenance Technician Trainees to operate and maintain pumps and mechanical equipment at water plants, pumping stations, and remote sites. Our employees are engaged in multiple aspects of treatment plant operation, treatment system operation, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.

Trainees go through a 12-month program to learn environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and generalized theory associated with the operation and maintenance of the City's water and wastewater treatment plants and remote facilities. Training occurs in on-the-job and classroom settings. Upon successful completion of the 12-month training program, trainees will promote into the position of Operations and Maintenance Technician.

The HVAC Technician II (Building Equip Op II) offers experienced HVAC/Mechanical Systems Technicians the opportunity to join our team in performing skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems/components and other mechanical equipment, and fire/life safety systems in one or more public buildings. 

The HVAC Technician II also exercises supervision over Building Equipment Operators I, Building Maintenance Workers, and other maintenance employees according to general or specific instructions received from a Building Equipment Supervisor or Building Maintenance Foreman. Work is reviewed daily through reports, logs, and conferences with the supervisor. This position often works independently, requiring a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work alone.
