As a cost savings measure the City of Phoenix has moved the responsibility of Fire and Life Safety system plan review to the Planning and Development Department. Effective October 1st all system inspections, with the exception of AFP, will also be conducted by the Planning and Development Department
The following information is provided to assist the public with understanding and navigation the City of Phoenix Fire Prevention development process. The Fire Prevention Division works in conjunction with the Planning and Development Department during the construction phase of a project. Life Safety Systems are inspected and green tagged prior to receiving a Certificate of Occupancy. Click here to determine where to submit plans.

Over the Counter Permits for Life Safety System Modifications
Over The Counter Permit Application
The following permits do not require plan submittal. The permit can be issued over the counter at Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington, 2nd Floor:
- 1-50 sprinkler heads that do not impact calculations
- Under ground fire line, stub-out only (restrictions apply)
- 1-5 fire alarm notification or initiating devices
- 1-5 devices with power booster
- Special egress control devices (tie in to fire panel only)
- Dedicated Function Monitors (dialers)
