Phoenix launches a Citywide food drive to assist residents experiencing food insecurity during the holidays.
Councilwoman Hodge Washington to Chair New Phoenix Subcommittee
"I am grateful to share that I have been appointed Chair of the Phoenix City Council’s newest Community Services and Education (CSE) Subcommittee, dedicated to education, Head Start, homelessness, housing, and library services. As someone who has dedicated my career to advocating for children, families, and underserved communities, these priorities are deeply personal to me. From my early work as an Assistant Attorney General protecting vulnerable children, to my ongoing efforts as your Councilwoman to champion affordable housing, expand educational opportunities, and addressing homelessness, I have seen firsthand how stable homes, quality education, and accessible community resources can transform lives.
Over the past two years, my office and I have made meaningful progress together in District 8 by investing in neighborhoods, advancing solutions to homelessness, strengthening community safety, and fostering economic development. These accomplishments reflect the voices, needs, and hopes of the people who call our district home.
I will lead this subcommittee with compassion, collaboration, and a results-driven vision because I believe that together, we can make Phoenix a place where every resident not only thrives, but feels a true sense of belonging and support. Thank you to everyone who has believed in my leadership and entrusted me to rise to the occasion. I look forward to continuing this work with my committee members as we build an even stronger, more connected community."
