Phoenix Public Library Highlights Free Resources, Programs, and Community Support
Phoenix Public Library serves as a starting point for reading, learning, connection and opportunity by offering free resources, programs and services for residents of all ages.
For more than 125 years, the library has grown alongside the city of Phoenix, evolving from a small, two-room space into a vital community hub. Today, it provides access to technology, educational programs, workforce support and welcoming spaces for people at every stage of life.
Programs support early literacy, lifelong learning and future-focused skill building. Family-friendly programs such as Storytime, Music and Movement and Sit, Stay, Read foster a love of reading, while STEAM programs, makerspaces and teen initiatives encourage creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving.
The library also supports education and career goals through College Depot and PHXWorks. College Depot offers free college planning and re-engagement services, including programs such as GRIT and Craft a Profession. PHXWorks helps job seekers with resume and interview preparation, computer access and other career resources.
Accessibility and convenience are priorities. Cardholders can manage accounts and explore programs through the Phoenix Public Library app, pick up materials using 24/7 Holds Lockers, or access services through the Bookmobile, which brings books and programs directly into neighborhoods.
In 2025, the library welcomed more than 2 million visitors, proving that It remains a welcoming space for learning, connection and community — always free.
