Are you passionate about water stewardship and community advocacy?

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is now recruiting for the 2025 fall cohort of Water Wranglers, a dynamic, award-winning volunteer program that empowers residents to promote efficient and responsible water use across the City.

Launched in 2022, the Water Wrangler program mobilizes community members to serve as ambassadors for water conservation.

Under the guidance of the Water Conservation Office, Wranglers participate in local events, workshops, and educational outreach, helping to build a more resilient and water-wise Phoenix.

Water Wranglers are trained in peer education, community outreach, and solution-oriented communication.

“Water Wranglers are not just volunteers – they’re Phoenix residents, committed to improving their very own community through collaborative and impactful work," said Lara Van Lith, a water resource specialist and the program’s volunteer coordinator. “These water-wise citizens are passionate and deeply committed to sustainability and bring astounding energy and creativity, inspiring others to take action for their city.”

The program hit a milestone in August, when Teresa Brice became the first volunteer to reach 100 hours, with her husband, John, not far behind.

Brice attends public events, sharing information about how to use water wisely in the desert like upgrading to water efficient appliances or learning how to detect leaks.

Brice told PHXTV, “These are real, practical steps, and people are happy to learn that.”

She explains that “we have to come together as a community to achieve our goals.”
