The Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center is a 13,000 square-foot, multi-generational facility located in the park of the same name. The Center's professional recreation staff offers a variety of educational, recreational and social programs for people of all ages. Full-sized gymnasium featuring a variety of activities including basketball, floor hockey, walking club (17 laps equals= 1 mile) meets Monday through Friday. There are open gym periods so participants may enjoy a variety of activities. The center also offers three classrooms for meetings, classes, parties and other social gatherings. Space can accommodate 20 individuals classroom style and 30 theater style. One of Longview's longest running and most popular programs is After School, an affordable organized program for children aged six - 12. After school features daily homework help, arts and craft projects, physical fitness, and periodic guest speaker and performers. Longview also offers a full schedule of special interest classes and indoor sports leagues for all ages. Kids can join karate, basketball, indoor soccer, and dance to name a few. In fall, winter and spring, the center offers outdoor sports leagues in Longview Park. Teens can join Longview VolunTEEN, which keeps them engaged in fun activities that connect them to their community. Adults can join the popular walking club, basketball leagues, or boot camp.
