PROJECT UPDATE - 1/13/20

The trial period for the temporary lane configuration will end tomorrow, January 14, 2020. The Street Transportation Department will remove the cameras that were installed for the trial period and begin reviewing the results and the data collected.  We have also begin compiling the input we received. This process will likely take a few weeks to complete.  In the meantime, the temporary lane configuration will remain in place. The results of the trial program will be announced in February.

PROJECT UPDATE - 12/14/19

The temporary traffic lane striping was installed overnight and the evaluation period has begun. Public feedback is welcomed via email to bike@phoenix.gov.

PROJECT UPDATE - 12/6/19

The temporary traffic lane striping scheduled for installation this weekend may be rescheduled due to inclement weather. In conditions of moisture or humidity, the temporary striping can not be applied. If the striping can not be installed this weekend, it will be scheduled for next Saturday, Dec. 14. The 30-Day Evaluation Period will begin after the installation is complete. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The addition of bicycle and multimodal infrastructure is a priority for the City of Phoenix. To support the area’s urban and active transportation community, the City is seeking public input to identify an east-west bicycle lane option in downtown Phoenix to connect to existing and future bicycle infrastructure.

The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department will host a public meeting on Monday, October 28 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Burton Barr Central Library (1221 N. Central Avenue) in the Pulliam Auditorium.

Street Transportation staff will present details about potential east-west bicycle connectivity options between 7th and 1st Avenues in downtown Phoenix, potentially including but not limited to Portland, Roosevelt, McKinley and Fillmore Streets. Some of the options may require changes to or the removal of traffic lanes and/or on-street parking.

The meeting will begin with an Open House from 7 - 7:30 p.m. Street Transportation Department staff will be available to discuss the potential options. The public can ask the staff questions and look at drafts on rollplots. A formal presentation of the potential options will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Your time and input are highly valued. If you have questions or would like to submit comments outside of the meeting, please email bike@phoenix.gov.

To request a reasonable accommodation for this meeting, please contact the Street Transportation Department at 602-262-6284 or 7-1-1 (TTY).
