The Office of Environmental Programs advances environmental protection and sustainability through leadership, education, and policy/program development.
OEP provides environmental compliance assistance and oversight to staff citywide. OEP manages the Sustainable Purchasing, food systems, air quality, climate change, Brownfields Land Recycling, Clean Water Act Section 404, and Pollution Prevention programs and staffs the Environmental Quality and Sustainability Commission. OEP completed a Community Greenhouse Gas Emissions inventory, implemented the STAR Communities Rating System, and assisted the Office of Sustainability in achieving the LEED for Cities Platinum certification.
