Administrative Internship

The Solid Waste Administrative Internship Program attracts graduate-level students interested in a solid waste management, sustainability and environmentally focused career within the public sector. Interns assist management staff in researching and implementing innovative solid waste practices designed to increase operational efficiency within the program and enhance solid waste services for customers​.

​New recruitment is currently underway and the application will close April 30, 2018. The internship term is from July 2018 to June 2019.  Resume and cover letter are required. The recruitment is posted on the city of Phoenix job site.​

Communications Internship

The communications intern is responsible for producing, writing and managing the Reimagine Phoenix video segments promoted on social media, YouTube and PHXTV. The successful candidate also will support writing various documents including awards, grant applications and do research on these and multi-media, marketing and advertising trends.

Ariel LeBarron

Ariel LeBarron, a 2018 intern, is working towards dual Masters of Science degrees in Sustainability from Arizona State University (ASU) and Leuphana Universität Lüneburg in Germany. She has been with the city of Phoenix as a Public Works Solid Waste Administrative intern since July 2017. 

Alyssa Kiefer

Alyssa Kiefer, 2018 intern, earned her Masters in Sustainable Solutions from Arizona State University in May 2017. She has been with the city of Phoenix as a Public Works Solid Waste Administrative intern since July 2017.

​Alyssa Hagerbrant

Alyssa Hagerbrant, a 2018 intern, earned her bachelors in Environmental Studies from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She is a city of Phoenix AmeriCorps VISTA alumni and has been a Public Works Communications intern since July 2017.
