March 26, 2026: Following the Phoenix City Council's March 25 decision to remove Cesar Chavez's name and likeness from city facilities, properties, streets, and artwork, Phoenix Public Library is undertaking the process of renaming the Cesar Chavez Library. This process will be conducted under the direction of the Phoenix City Council and City of Phoenix leadership, with public input being solicited regarding potential new names. The library remains committed to providing welcoming and respectful spaces for all visitors, neighbors, and community members. It should be noted that certain aspects of this process may proceed rapidly, while others may require additional time to complete. Please visit the Cesar Chavez Library location page on our website for updates.
