October 7, 2026: Phoenix Public Library is pleased to announce that after a 5-week voting period, the public has selected Manzanita Library as the proposed name for a new library location planned for Estrella Civic Space.

Manzanita Library represents the region's natural environment and continues Phoenix Public Library's tradition of honoring the distinctive flora of the area by naming locations after Arizona Sonoran Desert plants.

The proposed name will now be presented to the City of Phoenix Library Advisory Board, then reviewed by the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office's Heritage Commission and then be presented to the Phoenix City Council for final approval.
