About the Project

The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department is proposing an update to the parking and bike lanes on 45th Avenue from the Grand Canal to Camelback Road.

If approved, the timeline for the project would be fall 2022.

Project Details

The department is proposing three options for two different segments of this roadway:

  • Segment 1: Grand Canal to Indian School Road

    1. Option A: No changes would be made along this stretch of road.

    2. Option B: Shortening the 17 ft. wide driving lanes to 10 ft., adding in a 7 ft. bike lane on both sides of the road, while keeping the 7 ft. parking lanes on both sides of the road.
    3. Option C: Shortening the 17 ft. wide driving lanes to 10 ft., adding in a 3.5 ft. buffer to a 7 ft. wide bike lane on both sides of the road and allowing parking on only the south side of the road.
  • Segment 2: Indian School Road to Camelback Road

    1. Option A: No changes would be made along this stretch of road.

    2. Option B: Shortening the 17 ft. wide driving lanes to 11 ft., adding in a 6 ft. bike lane on each side, while keeping the 8 ft. parking lanes on both sides of the road.
    3. Option C: Shortening the 17 ft. wide driving lanes to 12 ft., adding in a 4 ft. buffer to a 9 ft. wide bike lane and removing all parking lanes.
