Sweetwater Avenue from 24th St to 28th St

The Street Transportation Department team is considering options for bike lane improvements on Sweetwater Avenue, from 24th Street to 28th Street. The department wil host a December 9 public meeting to seek input from community residents.

Possible considerations include narrowing travel lanes to remove parking from one side of the street to widen the existing bike lanes to provide more distance between riders and passing vehicles. 

Road Design Options

Option A: No change.  On the south side of the roadway from just east of 24th St to 28th St, parking is allowed 6 p.m. to 7.a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.  On the north side of the roadway, parking is not allowed from 24th St to Victor Hugo Ave and parking is allowed 6 p.m. to 7.a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends from Victor Hugo Ave to just west of 28th St.  

Option B: Widened bicycle lanes from 24th St to 28th St. Parking would be limited to the south side of road at all times. 

Option A: No changes on Sweetwater Ave, from 24th St to 28th St.
Option B: Wider bike lanes from 24th St to 28th St. To widen the bicycle lanes, parking would be limited to the south side of the street only. 
From 24th St to 28th St, proposal to narrow car travel lanes and remove parking from one side of the street to widen the existing bicycle lanes to provide more distance between people riding bicycles and passing vehicles.
